[ There was a slight delay in their plans. With all the strangeness going on, he'd been lucky to find Yugi and get them a camping spot in time on that first night. After another bout of strangeness this morning...it seemed to be all right for now, and they could finally have a relaxing day.
Seto had donned his blue yukata for the walk up the mountain path, smiling at Yugi as he went to greet him. ]
Ready? I think we're through with the interruptions.
[This world was really something. First night with the weridness was one thing, but the second day and...whatever that was was something else. It did mean that things had been delayed for obvious reasons, but it seemed now tonight was at least behaving, so he figured toinight was the night at least to spend some time with just him and Seto.
Deciding to dawn a dark blue yukata he stood there quietly waiting, a small smile brightening up when he saw the other.]
I'm ready and I hope so... not sure I could handle anymore or else I would think someone was doing it on purpose or something.
They could be...mm, but I hope we've seen the last of it. This morning's incident was unsettling.
[ Kaiba is mostly silent as they walk to the place, then as they seek out an empty spring. He's looking for some place up high, preferably. Finally, he finds one with a nice view and a shower and changing room off to the side.. ]
Agreed. But I get the feling it might not be. At least until we finally move on anyway.
[He walked next to him, thoughts going through his head from time to time. He knew what not to say at least for the sake of the other person. But soon he was out of his thoughts and looking around.]
This looks perfect. I don't think anyone will come here... I hope anyway.
If they do, I'll scare them off. And you can do whatever you need to be comfortable.
[ Seto nodded resolutely at him before dipping into the shower. He was a little nervous about being this open around Yugi...but there was no one else he'd rather be with.
He walked back out with a towel loosely held around himself, dropped it on the rocks, and eased his way in. ]
[He laughed slightly, making sure that he used the shower first of course and taking his time while doing it.]
At least right now it's just you, so I am already comfortable.
[There were few exceptions to who he might not be at all comfortable around, but at least for now it was just the two of them. Once he was done with the shower and the towel was secure he moved to the edge of the hot spring and dipped his hand in.]
Huh, your right it doesn't feel too bad. [He soon made sure the towel was to the side but still close at hand behind finally going in.]
It's been a long time since I've been to something like this.
[ It was a cozy space. Large enough for the two of them to fit comfortably, but not much bigger than that. He closed his eyes and relaxed as Yugi slipped in, then smiled softly at him. ]
I never went. Many businessmen prefer to make deals in this environment, but I refused. I didn't trust my business partners that much.
[ He rolled his head and shoulders back, easing the tension there. Mm, that felt good. ]
[ After that strange little coffee date, things changed for Seto. He now knew that Yugi was one of the most important people in his life...but did Yugi know that?
He smiled when he spotted the familiar hair on the street and rushed forth, regardless of the tense situation in the city. ]
[He looked puzzled. DId he remember anything else. What was he on, about. Sure he had seen someone who looked like him in his dreams, but he didn't even know what those meant or why.]
[ A brief flicker of a frown passes Seto's face. He reaches inside his shirt and pulls out a locket, a silvery-black ring dangling over the photo frame.
He opens it, revealing the old picture of the two of them at that first dance night. ]
We've known each other for a long time. I was tricked into forgetting you too...but you have friends and family waiting for you. You're not as alone as you think.
Seto hadn't quite pinned down the why, but Yugi had changed since he'd returned to Domino. They still enjoyed their time together, of course, but there was something his husband wasn't telling him. And all his attempts to ask so far had been rebuffed. Which was worrying.
...and then, of course, the answer came in the worst way possible. He turned a corner in the memory cave, searching for the train's answers, and what he found was...not that. It was Yugi's pain, and suddenly everything made terrible sense.
But they'd pushed on to finish the mission. It was over, meaning the mess of emotion was now theirs to deal with.
Finally, they could retreat to their room. Seto's done his best to make things comfortable: brought back a hot drink from the kitchen, ensured the nightmare-eating stuffed animals were at the ready, and tidied up the place.
Yugi didn't know how long he had been honestly laying on the bed and staring up at the ceiling. Maybe it had only been a few minutes, maybe it's been hours, but Yugi hadn't really been paying that much attention.
They had all managed to get what was needed in that place. They managed to find memories, himself included but it meant having seen ones that one would rather keep buried. At least until the grief had passed anyway.
He hadn't even clocked on to his husband having returned to the room until he heard the sound of the door closing. It was enough for him to finally move his head and sit up.
"Hey... Sorry, I didn't notice you come in to greet you sooner."
Yugi should've known he didn't need to apologize, but this was a painful grief that he couldn't quite relate to. His own parents had died what felt like a lifetime ago, and all those feelings had been burnt up by the anger and hate that followed. Yugi would surely never take that path, but...
He struggled for words as he dimmed the lights. Seto knew he was unlikely to see Mokuba again (and even unlikelier to ever have a good relationship with him again after disappearing the way he did), but that grief was nothing like this
He set a mug of tea on the bedside table closest to Yugi, then shifted around the other side to join him on the bed, offering himself as a pillow.
Yugi shook his head slightly. He didn't feel like he deserved more time, mostly because what could he have honestly done if they had? n his mind he did all he could have honestly done in that time. Not much more he could have done.
"Not much more I could do really. Besides we didn't have a choice in having more time things were messed up."
"I'm sorry." Seto pulls him close and just sits with him for a little while, quiet and thoughtful. There's not a lot he can say...especially for someone who deals with death as poorly as he does. But he's trying to be better about it.
"He was a good man. He gave you so much."
He lapsed into silence as he thought a little longer. What should he say? His thoughts were many...what was appropriate to bring up? Would his ideas bring comfort or more distress?
Yugi just looked at the floor. They were nice words and a part of him had rally wanted to hear that. Resting his head on his shoulder he stayed quiet for what seemed like forever. He didn't know what to say or do really.
At least for five minutes before he moved to take his hand, gripping it slightly.
"Thanks. Doesn't stop me missing him, but that's perfectly normal when it comes to grief." Not his first rodeo after all.
