Personality:
Before Yugi finished the puzzle, Yugi was someone who was shy and was easily picked on by bullies. He wasn't what would be considered a 'man' by certain standards. When people picked on him he wouldn't fight back, but he has for the most part gotten used to bullying so much that he knows how to at least stand up to bullies should he ever see one. Although he doesn't use violence due to dislike of such a thing. Instead, Yugi is someone who stands up to bullies, such as in the first chapter when he stepped up to a bully and told him to pick on him instead of beating up his friends. This can show that he is more than willing to put himself in harm's way if it means that others he considers as friends are safe.
There is one thing that makes Yugi stand out and that is how compassionate he can be about his friends. He cares for them a whole lot and to an extent, depending on the situation he can care about those he doesn't like, such as during the duel between him and Kaiba, while Kaiba was more than willing to throw away his life, Yugi managed to switch back and stopped the attack before anything were to happen. For some, this could be a sign of weakness, but at the same time, it could be a strength in knowing when to back down from a situation and when not to.
Yugi is someone who at the beginning would rather wish for friends than actually try and go about actually getting friends and this shows that he didn't have much confidence in being able to do the task, but as time has gone on and with canon, he has slowly started to be more confident in his own way to the point he is able to duel and win against Atem. While Yugi has gotten more confidence over time as well as the ability to e brave when it calls for it he still has his fears and limits to what he is capable of, which mostly fall under not wanting to hurt other people.
There is one thing about Yugi that one might not think looking at him right off the bat and that is the fact that he can be a little bit perverted, at least early on in the manga. Though, as the manga went on this side of him, became less and less prevalent, but it still exists.
In a tough situation, Yugi has proved to keep calm and think things over such as during the duel between him and his best friend, who had been brainwashed by Marik. The situation was dangerous, but Yugi managed to keep calm and try and think over what to do and how to free his best friend. Even with all the tough situations Yugi has faced, he always keeps a childlike innocence to himself and it shows in a lot of the games that he has played. The characters he chooses during the course of the first part of the manga and even his deck at the end of the manga reflect that. They are always rather cute little critters in one way or another.
When it comes to his friends, Yugi is more than willing to do anything to help them even if it means putting them first such as the time during a duel with a brainwashed Jonouchi, no matter what happened Yugi tried his best to get through to him even though it meant him losing the duel sand sinking to the bottom of the sea. He puts his friend's lives first before his own and in his own way, choosing to be selfless than selfish. This even extends to Atem. While Yugi would much like to have him around, deep down he knew that the other should find out who he is and even at the end defeat him in order for him to pass over.
Key themes:
Key themes for Yugi as a character is as follows:
1) To gain confidence in oneself and their abilities
2) Friendship is magic~
Main Motivation:
Friendship. This is pretty much a major theme for the kid here considering his wish from the get-go was wanting friends.
Skills:
Yugi himself honestly has no abilities that are otherworldly, but he does have a neat trick of being able to pretty much figure out how to play most games with ease and play them well.
Also good at creating games too.
Item:
I think I am going to go with Yugi's deck that he had from his canon point.
Sample: Sample from a previous game I was in
